What do you think the criteria was used during the voting process?
Not all of them were Catholic. Infact, the Bishop of Rome was probably the only "Roman Catholic" involved. Besides, if they tried to put forward the celibacy issue they didn't do a good job because there's bible verses that support clerical marriage.
