First of all I apologize if this has already been discussed or mentioned in a previous forum I searched, as i was desperate to voice my opinion on this video, also if this is on the wrong section --- mods....
[RANT]
I wasn't going to say any thing when I first the saw the video to this song until last night a close friend (sorry j.) sent me the video on the assumption that I had not seen this "excellently done" music video "that shows what Kenyan video directors are now capable of." - her words not mine.
One of the first things you see when you set eyes on this sorry excuse of what a lot of people are referring to as a masterpiece, is a stick figure animation of which the characters are running around on musical bar lines re-enacting what seems to be some sort of police robber chase or something. Blah blah blah.
Now when I first saw this (with an open mind) i was impressed for a second or two then suddenly memories of a deplorable (imho) movie I'd seen -
IDLE WILD rushed to my recent memories making me cringe instantly, that mess of a movie however is not the point the point is.... within 17seconds of the video there is blatant plagiarism in play, and this dear reader is what really "grinds my gears" that and artist like Collo would have the audacity to rob us the Kenyan audience with this inexcusable behavior, *pauses to catch a break and have another look at the video*
in case you haven't seen this atrocity click -->
The video goes on (in the first minute mind you) to continuously paste clips from the movie in the video at first I had hoped that they were only going to steal the mediocre animation for the first few seconds but alas there’s more they continue with the famous dark alley clip (seen in allot of the movie trailers) in which actor Faizon Love can be seen smoking a cigar!
now I'm no expert in this but I think you have to pay these actors to be in music videos hmmmm! I wonder how much Collo and them paid to have Faizon Love cameo in their video? the video then goes on to squeeze in an actual Kenyan girl in what is an obvious (poorly done I might add) green-screen effect where we see the beauty apply makeup this is all well and good, but come on guys what’s with the mediocre special effects you could have done a much cleaner job of that.
At this point I’ve had it, but for some reason I decide to continue watching then to my horror! in the worst possible way to plagiarize the video shows the scene from the movie with the lads in the pub/club with the jazz trumpets but wait that's not all, these audacious Kenyan directors/producers not only take the scene with the trumpets but also take the actual audio of the movie i.e. Note for note!!!! now seriously!! i wasn't 100% sure so i went out to the store and spent (the equivalent of us) $5.65 on the Idlewild dvd and alas the tune is in fact note for note with the dance scene in the movie apart obviously from the generic back ground beat.
I’ll stop here as my significant other is worried about the steam coming from my ears and nose! i wont go on to mention the stolen dancers in pink, Big Boi's cameo or the sad sad fight scene in the video or the many more stolen from movie factors including the entire song theme.

dear Collo, Alfayo, Chris Bitok and icon productions / Brayo, don’t get me wrong I'm all about Kenyan music and Kenyan artists but when you come out with some thing like this i have to say shame on you for your blatant plagiarism. I pray you tour this part of the world so I can let you know how I really feel...
thanks!
yours sincerely,
