Raila part of State ploy, says Kalonzo

ODM Kenya presidential aspirant Kalonzo Musyoka yesterday said he would not play second fiddle to any of his presidential rivals.

He also claimed his Orange rival Raila Odinga was a “Government project”.

In an interview with the Nation from Kitui West, Mr Musyoka claimed the Government decided to back Mr Odinga on realising he (Mr Musyoka) was likely to send President Kibaki packing in the December General Election. Through doctored opinion polls, the Government decided to inflate Mr Odinga’s popularity after it realised that I would beat Kibaki hands down,” he said.

“However, despite all these manipulations, I will still clinch the top seat in the coming election,” he said.

Yesterday, Government spokesman Alfred Mutua scoffed at the allegations.

Mr Musyoka also told off those urging him to support either Mr Kibaki or Mr Odinga.
