Not all Somalis have that curly hair (kama makamasi). If you see pictures of Somali villages, there are some of them who look just like other Africans.

Ethiopians have had a long history of intermarriage with the Arabs just across the Red Sea and with Jews. This has been going on for so long that they created an entirely new group of "mulatto" people. The same can be seen to a lesser degree on the Kenyan coast, where Arabs intermarried with local Bantus to create the Swahili "tribe". If the intermarriage between Arabs and Bantus on Kenya's coast had lasted as long as the intermarriage between Africans, Arabs and Jews in Ethiopia (thousands of years) we would have a larger mulatto population.

One only needs to look at Mauritius, Seychelles and Reunion to see the effects of several generations of racial intermingling.
