Default RE: Is Promise of life after death a bribe? - 11-12-2005, 03:42 AM

Their is no race or a battle that is sweet if there was no victory and a crown. By the promise of eternal life, it only shows us of the value of what the Lord has done into our lives. A genuine believer does not believe in God to escape from hell and to enter into heaven, but because he loves Him. 1 Corinthians 13 talks of Love. Love is that which is unending. So by loving God who is life then we are sure we have eternal life.

Paul says that if there is no resurrection of the dead then our hope is in vain. And Christ died and rose again because the battle is between life and death. And so if there is no life after death then Christ would have come for nothing in this earth.

By man falling from sin we see mans' life span been cut short meaning sin brings death but in Christ - that which was lost is restored and this is fellowship and life. Man would not need salvation if dying is the end of everything but salvation is what gives hope beyond the grave. Take a real life example - A man who gets married just to take the wife to bed will eventually get bored and quit looking for something new. But a man getting married because of LOVE will go on loving no matter the circumstances so we follow God not because of Heaven but because He showed us love and as we love Him back. That is relationship.
