Actually my negative attitude is towards organized religion as a whole. I attack Christianity mainly because it's the religion I was raised under, so it's the religion I know the most about. I know too little about the other major religions to give an informed opinion.

Then, I think that Christianity actually CLOSES your mind, not opens it. In Christianity, you're told to believe without questioning, accept and take as absolute whatever your god tells you, and dismiss as total hogwash other religions and to view their gods as false gods. Christianity doesn't have room for opposing views. On the other hand, to be an atheist, you must have opened your mind completely to try search for the truth outside the established norm. You've actually questioned and realised that a lot of the stuff doesn't make sense to you, and coz it doesn't make sense, you've walked away.
