Perhaps as opposed to your comment on this matter the pope or rather the papacy is probably the point to begin from.

You say that the anti-christ will have a large following.which is right. Yes the papacy has it. So many who confess to be christains pay allegiance to him.Take The story of Sabbath for instance. It is the little horn of Daniel 7(Papacy read pope),was to think to change times and laws, That actually instituted Sun-day worship during the years which constantine nominally converted into a christian.A few years the bishop of Rome(pope) confered to Sun-day the name,THE LORD's DAY to perhaps impose a sacred meaning on it.Did you know that almost the whole protestant world bows down to that and okays sun-day worship for which the scriptures do not bear any proof. There is your wide following of the pope from all religions. Infact under the supervision of pope comenced the dark edges where people were restrained from reading the bible.Hence the banishing of the light(Bible)-The detector of errors. As a matter fo fact the bible was to be wiped out. And anybdy found in posesion of this Holy book was killed!

Consider this ecumenism which is a catholic invention is widely becoming popular with all the other religions..
