It's sad but living here in the states for so long tends to separate us from the reality of life in Kenya.

Just the other day I came across this really beautiful aerial picture of downtown Nairobi. I was so proud of it that I showed it to my American friends so as to finally put it to rest that we did not live on trees in Africa.

But at the back of my mind I kept thinking how lucky I was that the picture did not show the real Nairobi. The Nairobi that dwellers of Kibera, Dandora, Kayole, Korogocho, Mukuru and Kariobangi north see everyday.

This story should serve as a wake up call to us Kenyans. We need to do something about it.
