This weekend I had to help someone do one of the things that I hate most in the world; MOVE HOUSE! What made this worse is that this was a poorly orchestrated move, when you call the Acolyte to help you move, he expects to come to your house and find all your boxes packed and ready to go. Sadly this wasn't the case, most of the stuff was all over the place and there was hardly enough boxes to go round. To add insult to injury, what was to be tossed out wasn't sorted from what was to be kept; so we had to help do that in addition to packing. Of course tempers were frayed at several times during that day and alot of moaning and wingeing was heard. But I also realised how much rubbish people accumulate over the years when they live in one area long enough. You see I have packrat tendancies but I balance it out by not buying very much, but I know people who are both packrats and heavy shoppers. I once helped this friend of mine move who had enough shoes to supply a small boutique. Anyway I guess we are all different when it comes to collecting stuff and moving. For me the more organised and the less stuff to move, the better! Sadly that was the story of my boring weekend. But.................... I am in the process of discovering that revenge is a dish best served cold, nicely and chilled. More on that cryptic comment in the future. Before I go ya'll didn't think I would forget the Monday segment. In fact I challenge ya'll to come up with a name for it. I'll get the ball rolling...."You Should Have Stayed Home" That's what my tired mind could come up with, anyway let the captions and the fun begin! No comment...... Nick watched wistfully as Milo once again had his way on the dancefloor... What the hell?! The dance of the comatose????? First of all, where is her left shoe? Second that stuff being splashed on her looks alot like..... These are the chicas who are great fans of beer goggles and the 3 a.m rule.... At least oil your legs before you go to the club, I'm not even going to talk about the dress Ashy legs - check, ashy face - check, no shoes - check, no shame - check....We have a winner! What the hell?! Practice session for the after party or what?! Have a nice day and stay out shady clubs!

Oh Joy! Monday is here! I'll try and say that as many times as I can till I believe it. Anyway in case you don't know I always have a digital camera in my car and I do try and take pics when I can, of course most of them aren't masterpieces but I do like to have something to look back to when I move on. Anyway here are some pics for you. With the price of gas, I'm soon going to be wiping the dust off my bus card Kenyans doing what we do best A great looking mural I like the artistic freedom people take with their shops in this part of town More freedom of expression at work A building design that stays with you I liked the design of the sign Some folk are living large I tell you.. A view from a hotel just by the Airport Someone told me the hotel was once a hanger Do transvestites prefer to fly with air tran? (Crude Acolyte statement of the day) A news crew doing a story around the time one airline had their planes were grounded Just wanted to show you all my private jet No, I was not seated at the bar at anytime that day! In other news I was reading about how during Labour day wanainchi booed the President when he did not declare a rise in the minimum wage. What it got me to wondering was if many employers even adhere to that minimum wage law and how often it is enforced? It's a known fact that many Indian owned factories in the Industrial Area over work, under pay and abuse their Kenyan workers. What is sad though is that the labour officials do nothing or are bribed to turn a blind eye. And what makes things worse is that I hear that fares are going to go up in Kenya do to the price of petrol, I guess more Kenyans are going to start walking. Oh the joys of a globalized economy, America's problems become everyone else's problems. Anyway let me get myself back to the everyday grind before I start thinking too hard and get pensive. ps: A good reason not to play with other men's wives!

It seems some people are not well versed in leaving well enough alone at all. It seems that I have been touted as a grand example of what statesmanship is not, the difference between Kenyans and Tanzanians in addition how Statesmanship should not be conducted. Well let's clear some small things out of the air first, first and foremost I called Kikwete a dumb bitch and not a dumb ass bitch. Please do your research. As for those who quoted Voltaire, my hats off to them; because however ill advised that statement was I stand by it. Second, it's rather interesting how one who feel they can wax forth about statesmanship not show an iota of that to their own country man and fellow blogger by spewing forth a statement like, "an insignificant and inarticulate Kenyan blogger?" Of course that statement in itself brings forth various questions. What does the poster mean by the term insignificant? How do we measure that in the blogosphere? Is it by the number of links linking back to your blog, I'm not going to get in a pissing contest about that but I know I'm faring rather well in that area. Is it because of the subject matter you carry? My blog has never been high brow but I have never claimed it was but in my short time I have done some good, case in point exposing a Dutch minister in Kenya for the huckster he is (I still get comments on that series by the way). Or maybe we could use blog traffic as a measure of significance? But once again I'm not going to get into a pissing contest here. So please don't make statements that don't stand up to in-depth examination. Inarticulate? How do we measure that? Is it the amount of flowing Queen's English that the blogger uses? is it the comments from the readers hailing their command of the language and how clearly they articulated their point? In fact isn't being articulate being able to make your point clearly? I made my point and by the firestorm that came from it I would say that it was pretty well understood? My regular readers understand me rather well and relate to what I post and that is why they keep on coming back to my blog with comments of note and not kowtowing to my "significance". At the end of the day, the poster is welcome to say what they want; remember Voltaire. But are they really in a position to be on a high horse? What can you teach people about statesmanship when you are hardly a gentleman yourself (an issue I won't bother going deeper into)? I for one don't and never have claimed to be a statesman or even a gentleman, I just say what I feel, no matter how inarticulate and insignificant it may be, funny enough that seems to resonate with other people in the blogosphere; if that is another indicator of how immature and low brow Kenyans are then so be it, I have nothing to apologize for. Anyway I do feel I have said my piece, I am sure the poster of that piece has more significant things to worry about such as State House agents bugging his phone, following him to his house and interfering with his personal business as he tries to teach our President to be a statesman in addition to being the avatar of all that is significant and articulate. How heavy the load is that some of us how to bear. Let us support him as he teaches us how to progress as a Nation. Have a wonderful day people and in all that you say please be articulate!

I think I have discovered the root of my malaise. For some reason or other I have found myself listening to the kind of music mentioned in this earlier post, so dank days are here again. No nothing bad has happened in my life. Yes I may have to spend some more time at work so I can't go to the gym so that in turn reminds me how empty my social calendar is but I don't mind my job or my work mates, I'm in good health and I'm not broke. Oh yes, I think the root of my malaise is the fact that I think too much about things, not to the point of obsessing or worrying but thinking too much anyway. Case in point, there are small things people like to do to take their minds off how pathetic their everyday lives are here, such as shopping. That's great go out and shop, enjoy yourself and just heap up more debt on yourself while America is in the middle of a recession so you don't even know if you are going to have your job tomorrow. Or maybe what I could do instead is meet a nice girl, get to know her and even get laid! Wonderful suggestion, were it not for the fact that 1 in 4 women have herpes, so who knows what other wonderful surprises you might come across. Maybe I could go out for a few drinks with the boys instead and try not to have too much fun and end up with a DUI like quite a few Kenyans out here. Don't worry I'm being a tad bit dramatic but quite a few times I do think about things I could do and I either do them or shrug my shoulders. I want to be more like those people who drink and party like there is no tomorrow. You know the kind of people who work for their next paycheck so they can go out and have some fun, instead of being like me who is trying to scrimp and save and plan for what I'm going to do and be several years in the future. So don't worry The Acolyte isn't balled up in some corner depressed or anything, I'm just having one of those internal self examinations where you make the mistake of examining your life by the standards of the world as opposed to your own and we all know where that leads but the good thing is that unlike many I do manage to come to my senses before any long term damage is done. At times I think it does take a strong person to cope with life in the West because everywhere you look, someone is telling you what you should have, where you should be, where you should live, where you should work, how you should look and who you should be with. It was never this bad in Kenya when I think back, no wonder so many people here crack up trying to be the Joneses. In other news, anyone who works in an office building in the States is aware of the fact that the windows here are just for show and don't open at all. I understand about the higher floors but are they scared that someone on the ground floor will still try and toss themselves out of that window onto the curb? Because of that air conditioning is the sole form of climate control, so when the air con gets busted you are in trouble. Last week our thermostat was having issues so the office became rather warm, I didn't know that but when I began feeling hot flashes the first thing that came to mind was, "Damn, aren't I a bit young for male menopause?" Anyway a new week is here and it's time to get back to the grind, just marvelous!

Things have been way to serious in this joint with all the drama that has been going on in Kenya so I thought it was time for us to loosen up. The side eye the girl below gave George Bush made my day! I bet there are loads of people who feel the same way about this dude as she does, oh feel free to caption the pic! I was reading this post, and it really summed up my opinion about the mungiki. The government officials who are arming them and helping them all with the misguided aim of avenging the wrongs against the Kikuyu seem not to know what fire they are playing with. I also noticed lately that a favourite forum of Kenyans, Mashada is on hiatus. It seems it was getting waaaaaaaaaaay too taxing to moderate the hate speech that was going on on that site. Mashada was already a handful before this who election situation began, so I can only imagine the bile that was being written there. What I have noticed is that when people are behind a key board they feel that they are free to express any opinion, no matter how incendiary it is. There is a blogger who has been doing this with wreckless abandon and much as I do respect her freedom of speech, I do wonder if she would say any of those things in person because sooner rather than later she would be treated to a blanket party. Anyway before we get to the grind here is another funny picture I wanted to share. It seems that Tara Reid's slimming program didn't have the effect she wanted it to have weighing from the expression on that man's face. Anyway for those back home if you have anything stories of anything positive going on amongst the drama and negativity by all means please share. We shouldn't wallow in hate and depression, nothing good shall come of it at the end of the day. Have a nice Monday all......

I'm sure you have all seen the video above. Frankly words can hardly express what I think of Kenyan law enforcement. In this case instead of working towards containment of the demonstrators, the aim seemed to be to terminate them. I don't care what our Baghdad Bob aka Alfred Mutua says about video tampering, the video speaks for itself. Another thing that I have wondered why is it that the most lethal force is being used in Kisumu yet people have been demonstrating in Nairobi too and we aren't hearing of as many fatalities and incidences of brutality. Is it me or is a quiet but not so subtle point being made? Someone told me a sad story the other day, we all know how the current situation in Kenya has taken an ethnic dimensions by virtue of the two prominent figures behind matters. Any Kenyan abroad knows that there are large numbers of Kenyans out here who have overstayed their visas and are here illegally. So what happened is that with all the bile and anger in the air, one large group from one tribe got together exchanged information and called the Immigration Authorities on a large number of people from their "nemesis" tribe they knew were in the country illegally. I hear that group has been arrested and is awaiting repatriation to Kenya. I have never claimed to be the nicest person in the World but that is grade A malice. How messing up someone's life here in the States will help matters back home I have no idea. I was talking to a friend on the phone today about how some unresolved issues like the Land Question contributed to the chaos we are experiencing today. She made this statement, " Those people sold their land 40 years ago and now they want to fight for it and chase people away, that isn't right." I had my issues with her broad generalization of the matter, the issue is not that simple. It goes as far back as Kenya's Independence and the way land that was taken from the natives by the Europeans and then redistributed after Independence and the bumbling attempts at consequent governments to paper over the issue. Another jewel I heard was, "There was nothing they were doing with that land, so it was given to us to farm and trade on; we shouldn't be persecuted for that.." First things first, even if the people living in that area originally were doing nothing with their land, it still remains there land to gaze at with reckless abandon then to be taken under the pretext of eminent domain. But I'm not saying the government grabbed peoples' land nor am I supporting the forced evictions, but like I said it goes much further and much more detailed than that. My point is that people have tried to break down the drama to its' simplest elements and in that way turned it into something else. This whole issues is more than just Luos and Kikuyus, ODM vs PNU, poor vs rich, hardworking vs lazy; it is all those things and alot more. So picking one those small elements and using it as a platform to spread half truths and bile in person, in the media or on your blog is just an indication of how some people despite their denials are part of the problem and not the solution. This writer has made an attempt to look out how these issues are being discussed online but they fall short in my opinion, the main reason being bias. I read somewhere else online that 500,000 jobs have been lost after all the fracas that has gone down. Let's see 500,000 jobs created in Kibaki's first term, 500,000 lost at the beginning of his second term. I guess he has indeed started with a clean slate. I wonder if he can come up with a million jobs with his maf dream team behind Wonder of wonders, our MPs are getting a full month's pay even though they have only convened once this month. Working to serve the people, you've got to love it! No wonder everyone wants to be an MP. I too want to be an MP, the work hours, benefits and the pay are great. I for one also think that the Kenyan media has done a pathetic job of reporting during this whole drama. They dragged their feet after the election and woke up to give a half hearted effort when things had already gone down the drain. I took a look at this article, It is obvious that if you read in between the lines; the assailants came from one tribe and the victim another. Do you think that the Kenyan media should mention tribe when reporting some of these incidents or not? Just want to get people's opinions. Anyway that's my $0.02 for today.......

From my daily tuning in to Capital FM I learned that 112 were in Kenya sometime last week. I remember when they were tha shiznit! Now, not so much. I was quite amused to read how they went to party at Pavement and till it was announced the crowd didn't even know they were there. Did any blogger go for the performance? I would really like to know how it was. I'm not hating on 112 and Tevin Campbell but I don't like it when musicians choose to go to African countries when their fame has waned, that is why I have love for people like Shaggy and Sean Paul who chose to perform in Kenya when they could have gone to more profitable countries. Blind Item The Acolyte used to live in the same 'hood as this now well known kapuka artiste as he was slowly making his way to fame. At this point in time the artiste used to live with his brother and cousin in one house. Due to carelessness the group only had one house key having lost all the other copies, so they resorted to leaving the front door open whenever they went out at night. The Acolyte found this out when dropping them home from the club one night and advised them to stop doing so and get a key cut. The artiste laughed it off, saying they were too lazy to do so and they had fared well so far. It was with a great bemusement therefore one day when The Acolyte a few weeks later encountered the artiste, his brother and cousin beating the crap out of 2 of the estate watchmen. On further inquiry it seems that after going off to the club after leaving the door open as usual they came back in the morning to find their TV and video missing. The artiste in question did climb up the ladder or is still climbing and as I was leaving Kenya had moved out of the house into his own apartment with his brother and they were having a ball. Guesses anyone? I'm not naming the 'hood because that would be a dead giveaway. This Judge sounds very Kenyan to me, don't you think? I can so picture a Kenyan judge doing this! In other sad news, someone told me that Carnivore doesn't have Soul anymore. By the time I was leaving Kenya, Soul at Carni had been overtaken by Rock at Ka-choi and Soul at K-2 but I remember when it used to be the place to be. Who can forget buzzer beating? You see entrance was free before 9pm or was it 11pm? Anyway what people would do was go have one cheap pint at the local and then zoom off to Carni just a few minutes before the deadline. Of course there were always obstacles like the "powerful" Kenyan watchmen who would want you to park your car 10 inches close to the white line instead of the 15 inches you had parked, to which my regular answer would be, "hakuna shida, hatukai!" Which would of course mean that the next time I would be seen at 1.30 am when Soul was over with the next stop being Jean's pub for food that was only edible when you were under the influence. I had this link months ago and I don't know if I shared it but I ran across it today and it still put a smile on my face. Anyway this is what happens when you try to take a picture with 2 animals that don't get along. Some people have no shame I tell you. There is this chic from I used to know when I was in Uni via the International Club, we had somethings in common but were more of acquaintances. So once I was done with uni our keeping in touch ended there other than the sporadic message on one of the social networking sites I'm on. So on Saturday morning at 3 am my phone rings and I don't recognize the number but since it was in the same area code I answered it. I didn't recognize the voice until my old pal identified herself, it seems she was in Atl with her girlfriend (not friend but lover who she turned lesbian but that is a story for another day) and the person who was supposed to put them up hadn't shown up at the club and the whole night wasn't answering their phone. So she asked if they could come over and sleep at my place. No, at this point in time Acolyte was not entertaining fantasies of converting 2 lesbians with his magic pole of love in his room which would be light by a pink light bulb as cheesy music played in the background that would climax in an earth shattering guitar solo at the same time as the Acolyte (as you can tell I am practicing writing a bad love scene for The Drama Post series - yes Eclipse I am working on the next episodes). This was because first of all the above scenario only happens in the movies, second this mama is very butch and her and her girlfriend (who is a nice chic) do nothing for me, thirdly I have no couch or a spare bed and last but not least; how the hell do we not talk for 11 months and then you come out of the blue expecting to sleep at my place?! Oh here is the other funny thing, it isn't like she even had my number, her girlfriend used to be good pals with my room mate so whenever she wanted to get in touch with him she would call me. So she told me as they were scrolling through her phone for numbers they came across mine and decided I would be a willing host. Anyway this chic is a user, I was told how she borrowed some money from a Kenyan mama saying it was an emergency and was lent the money, the Kenyan chic a few months later needed that money to pay her fees and was taken round in circles despite being told how urgent it was. All those thoughts ran in the mind of The Acolyte as she told him her predicament. The Acolyte said that was very sad and said he wished he could help but at the moment he was out of town and proceeded to suggest some other ex international students she could call who coincidentally were not picking their phones when she had called them (I guess they got the memo). Anyway I'm sure she made out just fine. Damn, it seems I've over blogged for today. Time to scatter and yes, Drama post in progress! Happy Monday all!

Word on the net is that pictures of self styled Kenyan Diva Kaz are floating around the internet. No I have not seen them (a forward would be appreciated though) but I do hear they were tasteful pics (someone posted them online, holla at me for the link) she said they taken by someone she trusted or rather in her own words "loved" and for some reason or other chose to spray them all over the internet. I'm all for self expression and all that other good stuff but I wonder at times how come women let scandalous pics be taken of them in the first place and even worse to let other parties keep those pictures? I mean unless you also have explicit pics of your boyfriend what assurance do you have that if things go wrong that he won't share them with the rest of the world? Hmmmmmmm a thought just came to me, what if Kaz did this as a publicity stunt to keep her name in the lime light? The pics were being discussed on a popular Kenyan forum and I have never seen so many requests for a forward, the dude who cracked me up was the one who said, " please forward me those pics, they are for a school project." The other peeps who cracked me up are the ones who had this exchange on the same thread Chic - I'm suspecting another guy in the office took those pics. Our wall is green and that wall is very green... Dude - That's a bed in the "office"... Kwani you work in a brothel? If so whats the location? Talk about 10-0. What was I trying to say? That's what I get for trying to blog while drinking a beer. Piece some meaning or useful lesson from that paragraph for me. I was reading Mocha's blog the other day and she took issue with some commenter who took issue with her "dislike" of Nonini. So in the comments section someone posted this article by someone else who was taking issue with Kenyan music as a whole. Harsh as the article was I do agree with most of the author's points, the most ironic thing is that this dude is a pal of mine; we used to work together. Talk about an interesting way to run into people from way back when. On a bunny trail, I watched a music video of a song by Circuite (of Manyake fame), someone needs to take away his studio access: his videos suck and his music sucks even more! And in closing, a long time ago the Acolyte used to watch WWF (not WWE) wrestling. Of course I knew wrestling was the last thing that was going on; just laughably bad scripting, steroid pumped wrestlers and silicone enhanced women. Anyway in the segment below Stone Cold Steve Austin and Booker T decide to go at it in a supermarket. If you aren't a wrestling fan don't bother watching the whole thing; the best part of it for me was mins 6:04 - 6:38. And people please don't try that at home or at your local supermarket! Nice Week people.........

In Breaking News, The Special One has left Stamford Bridge! For non soccer fans, Jose Mourinho has left (been sacked) as Chelsea's manager after a lack lustre start to the season that has led to poor attendance of games. Is this the beginning of the end for the Billion dollar team? Grant? Who the hell is he? What say you Chelski fans out there, Archer, Farmgal, anyone? Anyway moving onto more serious matters. One day a few months back when Acolyte was at his hey day and the talk of the blogosphere (Kenyan at least) he received an interesting e-mail from someone who wanted him to post something on his blog. This individual had an issue of national importance regarding a former high ranking civil servant who was presently sitting on one of the many useless inquiries in Kenya. He had sent his story to several media outlets with no action whatsoever. It seems that the daughter of this former civil servant after being flown out to the UK by her father had turned to a life of prostitution and even moved down to Australia where she continued the trade under the guise of working as a masseuse. The dude even went on to catalogue the number of men he says she told him she had slept with. The sheer zeal with which he was hounding me to post the story made me think twice especially when he copy pasted me what he had sent the Kenyan police and ODM (Joe's favourite political party). I did do my own research and it seemed that the girl in question was quite a looker, what made her opt for the second oldest trade in the world (toolmaking is the oldest), I don't know. According to my snitch, he thought that the civil servant had no business sitting on a commission because his daughters actions could be used to compromise him. It is when he revealed that he once lent her money and he got it back but after a bit of a struggle since she was "quite a bit of work" as he put it and to add icing on the cake they were f*ck buddies. That is what put it in between must know and malice territory. You see in Kenya we don't live like we do in the West, we know our leaders are tainted but we take them as we are. I'm sure we are all aware of a former Vice President's wife's dalliances that resulted in her giving birth to a mixed race child and him fainting in the hospital, the industrial/media mogul who is known to bed young girls and men occasionally, the female MP who is prim and proper in public but has the morals of an alley cat. Most of our leaders are as clean as a whore's panties at the end of the month so that extra piece of information wouldn't have been of any use as compared to financial statements that show how much money the former civil servant stole from the government. Or what say you purveyors of truth out there, was this must know or malicious information? Anyway I have a 3 day weekend so comment away! Quote Of The Day Birmingham chairman David Gold claims Premier League fans are being treated like "mushrooms" by greedy chairmen. He believes they are "kept in the dark and fed manure". (The Sun)

Reason 2032 why Aco is going to Hell - Curiosity beyond boundaries Yesterday there was this chic who gave me a ride. I didn't know this chic that well but she gave out that, "If you talk to me nicely maybe I'll let you hit it" vibe. Even though I have been on the B-train for sometime now, I am still choosy so I kept the conversation above board. Anyway at one point she had to stop at a gas station and stepped out. So here I was, alone in an interesting person's car. What did I do? I let my curiosity get the better of me, so what I did was open her glove compartment just to take a peek and get to know her a bit better. So what do I find in there? A thong and small bottle of pills, so I looked at the pills, memorised the name of the meds and looked them up when I got home. The pills were azithromycin, one of the things that antibiotic treats is an STD in addition to innocus conditions like ear, nose and throat infections. So the question my dear friends, are the thong and the medicine mutually exclusive? Several scenarios come to mind 1. In case of any hot back seat SUV action happening, there is always the need for a fresh change of underwear and a dose of antibiotics to prevent an outbreak of a pre-existing condition. 2. In case of any hot back seat SUV action happening, no underwear is worn but just in case there is an important appointment; it's good to have some nearby. The antibiotics, a pre-emptive measure. 3. Due to quite a few thongs being lost after some hot back seat SUV action, it was always necesary to have some spare underwear handy. The antibiotics? After too much hot back seat SUV action, there have to be some consequences. 4. She bought the underwear after regular shopping but forgot it in the car, while the antibiotics are for a routine infection. 5. Underwear doesnt let the lady parts breathe but is always carried just in case, while the antibiotics were bought for a friend. 6. Someone knew I would be taking a ride with her and planted both articles in her glove compartment so as to make her look bad in my eyes. Anyway, honestly who cares? The lesson I learned, some glove compartments are worse than handbags, you don't know what you'll find in there. Good thing I'm not going to see that chic every again. Moving on, The MTV Video Music Awards were on yesterday. Britney Spears has completed her metamorphosis from Pop Princess to ............. I don't even have words for it. I'm sure many a dude was unable to get it up after whacking off to her poster for years after her flabby physique was seared into the minds. The Past The Present In other VMA news which I know few of you care about but I will share anyway. Tommy Lee and Kid Rock, two of Pamela Anderson's exes (she's the girl who was in Baywatch with the big tatties and was also in Kanye's Touch The Sky video) decided to express their differences with their fists and caused a ruckus during Alicia Keys performance. Anyway Jammie Foxx was presenting an award soon after that and left Jennifer Garner hanging as he swayed from the script. Dude might have a big ego and all but he's still got that comedian in him!

As you can all see, I have a new template, it has some few quirks I'm trying to fix but at the end of the day it beats what I had before. Keep your eyes open because what could be next could be a move to Wordpress. I've been juggling that thought in my mind and I'll get round to it when I can. Anyway moving on, I was reading this article in the Pulse and I just realised that I have ever went for a jam session. Not that it's something to get broken up about but for so many Kenyans it was like a rite of passage of sorts. I have also never gone for Super Soul, the idea of clubbing with all of Nairobi at one venue never sat well with me. I recall my pal's tales of driving into a close to empty parking lot in Carnivore only to walk in and be hit by a sheer wave of heat from the masses of humanity within, if you didnt pre-arrange when and where to meet the last time you would see your pals if you got separated would be morning. I did go for a few Super Rocks if that's any consolation. Damn I miss clubbing in Kenya. I was reading this article about Kenyan traders being harassed in Tanzania. This whole TZ - Kenya was used as an excuse to kick me out of KBW but now that I'm not being censored I'm going to touch on it anyway. Tanzanians time and again claim to be for inter-regional co-operation but time and again their actions say the opposite, it's like having a friend who shakes you hand with one hand and stabs you in the back with the other. Kenyans are by far very open and welcoming to foreigners at times to our own detriment (Arturs anyone?), while Tanzanians seems to be following the trail of South Africans in their fear and hate for anything that seems to threaten their nation in any way, it also doesnt help that some Kenyans were gunned down in Moshi following a robbery. I know I'm asking for too much but there is a mid point in all this that can be reached with the guidance of the respective parties in power. A man can dream can't he? Onto other things, I was reading one of my past posts about how much I hate my job and how boring my life is at the moment and I realised that I shouldn't be complaining at all. Let's look at it this way, I came to the States and graduated in the standard time it takes to do my degree, not too many Kenyans out here can say that, to add to that yes my job may suck but at least I dont have massive debt in terms of student loans, credit cards for financing my education and of course I still have my health. So yes things may not be where I want them to be but this is only temporary, as the Hallmark card says, tough times don't last but tough people do! I was looking at a Kenyan paper online and one thought came to mind, "The Crazy Season is here!" Yes elections are on their way when the whole paper is nothing but politics, one would think we are a nation of politicians, well if you go to any bar in Nairobi West you would think that way too. Anyway I guess I'll just take a backseat and watch the theatrics. Happy Monday.....................

I was just reading Nation and Standard online and I realised that both sites have ad sense adverts on them. I find it strange that multi million dollar making media bodies should have such adverts on their site, there's no problem with the sites having ads on them but I though that they would co-ordinate and seek out advertisers themselves. Besides which those ads make the sites look cheap. Anyway it seems to work for them so I better get used to looking at those Google ads.
After reading M's latest post and the pic that came with it, I remembered this great skit on SNL! The dude who cracks me up is the son in the middle who looks like he is performing a Kamba traditional dance ( in true Acolyte style dissing Kenyan tribes one after the other!) It's Sofa King funny!
In other unrelated news, I was talking to a pal of my sister's who really likes white dudes and has been trying to hook up with one but things havent gone well whenever she tries. She was talking to my sis and telling her how she would love to be in Europe and how the men there treat black women better than the ones here, on the other hand I was talking to one of my pals in Europe who says she has developed a liking for the odieros here from when she was on vaction here last time. This whole situation just shows me that no matter the country or continent men/women are the same, the grass always seems greener on the other side till you step on it!
Oh before I forget! I do remember in my 7 things post I did mention why I dont get ecstatic when I meet other Kenyans. Let me give you a small illustration of how small the world is and how Kenyans are all over. The other day at work I met this chic I used to be in University with and her small sister who was a year behind us in Uni is in town too. Here is where it gets interesting, my sister had told me about how they got this new boss whom they all dislike (no not because she is Kenyan) and how her boss told her that she was in my alma mater (smart word of the day). Yes you guessed it, my pal's sis is my sister's boss! Small World isn't it?
