Olympia Capital Holdings Ltd launched their Rights Offer on 3 September 2007. The following link is courtesy of www.mystocks.co.keFirst a plug for MyStocks (no, they do not pay me...) www.mystocks.co.keThey have the BEST site out there if you are looking for information & tools on Kenyan stocks. I have used stockskenya, hisanet, etc but mystocks has information & tools I have not found elsewhere. Mystocks has a relationship with mediacorp who supplied free access to the live stream. I think the "free" days are coming to an end soon. Apparently, the NSE charges the data vendors $2,500/month & it will rise to $5,000/month from 1 Jan 2008. Anyway, try out the graphing tools which also account for splits & bonuses. Olympia Capital Holdings Ltd websiteOlympia Capital Holdings Limited Memorandum of Information for the Rights Offer in 2007Basic Info on OCHL: - Rights Offer of 30mn shares at 14/- each = KShs 420mn

Focus on the Kroll Associates ReportTo understand the following article, you will need to first understand what money laundering is. Read this Kumekucha article that explains what it is. Investigators compiling the Kroll report were able to establish a clear link between one of the biggest money launders in Europe, based in Geneva, called Gabriel Moussa Katri nd the Mois. Brilliantly using his Kenyan clients, Katri is said to have been the main person behind the channeling of vast amounts of money looted from Nigeria by the then president Sani Abacha which was channeled through Kenya's Trans National Bank onto various offshore destinations. The main contact at Trans National Bank was Ashok Gohil (who died in 2001) and was Kulei's right hand man. One of the things Gohil did to facilitate his illegal activities was to set up companies in Kenya where ODM Kenya's Mutula Kilonzo was the main director. This included companies like Ashar Limited and Chen. Finance and especially the dizzying financial transactions that are the hallmark of money laundering, which is an illegal activity for criminals, can get a little boring. However the main questions Kenyans need to ask themselves are where these huge sums of money coming from Kenya and being transferred abroad by the Mois was coming from. archiveA friend described a meeting with Joshua Kulei to me that left me dumbfounded. The man has very limited formal education and when discussing projects like in this case a newspaper property, the man has problems understanding some basic English words that have something to do with industry but cannot be directly translated into Swahili or his Kalenjin vernacular. Yet his street-smartness and survival instincts enabled him to be one of President Moi's longest serving aides. He is still very much an untouchable because his finances, as we have seen are so closely intertwined with those of the former president that you cannot prosecute him without prosecuting Moi. Kulei has a brother called Terer Kulei who lives in New York and manages several properties which Kulei owns in the United States. The Kueli's have a reputation in New York of retaining very healthy bank accounts. Read moreHow To Make Serious Money Using Blogs Or Generate Plenty Of Traffic For Your Site. archiveThere are many good things which President Kibaki's many supporters point to as achievements of the president and I do not intend to argue or debate about those achievements. The only thing that really worries me and should worry any Kenyan who loves his country more than his tribe is the corruption. The president has done nothing to act against looters in the past regime let alone those in his own administration. The result is that even as you read this, crime in Kenya pays because many who attempted to get rich through genuine business have been frustrated every inch of the way while the corrupt ones have had very smooth sailing. So why should our war against crime be justified? After all we have seen from the Kroll report that these looters are fond of threatening others with violence. Meaning that when you really think about it, there is no difference between the two different type of thugs, only that one is protected by the government while the other is shot on sight without the benefit of a trial. So which of the two thugs is more damaging to the country? It is therefore very clear to me that... Read moreHow To Make Serious Money Using Blogs Or Generate Plenty Of Traffic For Your Site. archiveIt is increasingly clear that Western province will be a major battleground for the presidency and also parliamentary seats between the major political parties, in the forthcoming mother of all general elections. On accepting the ODM presidential nomination, Raila Odinga immediately chose Musalia Mudavadi as his running mate, meaning that chances are high that the former VP will end up as Raila's VP should he be elected. It is no accident that President Kibaki chose the late Wamalwa Kijana as his vice president in the elaborate power sharing structure that was set up prior to the 2002 general elections. The advantage President Kibaki had then was the fact that the Bukusus have a very large voting bloc, probably the largest amongst the entire Luhya community. And they are also very influential. Not only that, the Bukusu had... Read moreHow To Make Serious Money Using Blogs Or Generate Plenty Of Traffic For Your Site. It Is So Easy, Expert Explains

Next up from TED Global Talks in Arusha is Ugandan editor Andrew Mwenda's talk from TEDGlobal2007 who defined on of the themes of the summit with his calls for investment and trade opportunities and not for more aid for Africa. (Another great TED synopsis here from Ethan Zuckerman)Unfortunately, Mwenda now appears to find himself wrong footed, when one of East Africa's premier investors, the Aga Khan, chose to suspend him in a bid to appease the Ugandan government and ensure smooth survival of his business interests in the country.

Of the many people of all ages that died in Kenya in the last 24 hours, Lady S was singled out by the media for mention because of her contribution to society through music. I suppose that is an admirable tribute given that she was only 23. But at whatever age, everyone would like to be remembered for something. For many people, the question usually is, “what is that thing I want to be remembered for?”
The following writing is from Grace For The Moment: Inspirational Thoughts For Each Day Of The Year by Max Lucado
The Fire In Your Heart
Want to know God’s will for your life? Then answer this question: What ignites your heart? Forgotten orphans? Untouched nations? The inner city? The outer limits?
Heed the fire within!
Do you have a passion to sing? Then sing! Are you stirred to manage? Then manage! Do you ache for the ill? Then treat them! Do you hurt for the lost? Then teach them!
As a young man I felt the call to preach. Unsure if I was correct in my reading of God’s will for me, I sought the counsel of a minister I admired. His counsel still rings true. “Don’t preach,” he said, “unless you have to.”
As I pondered his words I found my answer: “I have to. If I don’t, the fire will consume me.”
What is the fire that consumes you?
My God, I want to do what you want.
Your teachings are in my heart.
Psalm 40:8

One of the major local news items today is the passing away of a famous musician in Kenya called Sharon Wangwe. Sharon was a top female rapper in the country and went by the stage name of Lady S and died in a car accident along Thika Road at a tender age of 23.
I watched an interview given by one of the survivors of that accident. He said that there were five people in the car, and all of them escaped with injuries except for Lady S. There were two people at the front, and the man was seated at the back seat with Lady S and one more person. The atmosphere was relaxed and they were all chatting about Lady S’s forthcoming trip. Today, she would have traveled to the UK where she was scheduled to perform at a festival.
Apparently, as the car was speeding downhill after Muthaiga Police Station roundabout, it suddenly went out of control just before coming to the river at the bottom of the valley. The man said that when the car started rolling it hit the tarmac at exactly the spot where Lady S was seated. It then rolled again and hit the ground at exactly the same spot once again. By the time it landed in a ditch, Lady S was conscious though badly injured, and they removed her and loaded her to another car that was passing by. Unfortunately she was pronounced dead on arrival to Guru Nanak Hospital just a few kilometers away. It was around 6pm.
Looking at the man giving the interview, one would not even suspect that he has been in an accident lately. When a person’s time is up, isn’t it uncanny how death extracts him or her from the middle of crowd as a farmer would pull off a single ripe banana from a bunch? The fact that Lady S was traveling to the UK today reminds me of all those times that I have heard surreal stories that when a person is about to die, he or she keeps talking about making an impending long journey. Do people have a secret knowledge that their time on earth is about to come to an end?
Whatever the case, Lady S will be missed by many Kenyans. May her Loved ones, family, friends, relatives, associates and fans find strength to move on at this difficult time.

where can i get those makeover people? the ones that tear down your house in like minutes (of airtime of course) wonder how long that actually takes. My life is in need of an extreme makeover the kind that will bring back lasting joy, nice happy thoughts, confidence in self, my capabilities et al. These days im hardly fully happy for periods of time, there'll be like 10 minutes of joy then im back to that annoying place that only i seem to know. the place where nothing seems to go right and the possibility of it going right is as dead as my sister. This month my mom turns 51.. she's single for any eligible bachelors out there, you have to be screened by me first ofcourse!!! being an only child and all wouldnt want any competition... anyways i've now come up with an idea as to what i'll give her for her b/day... gots go put up an ad for her in a dating site... hhhmm screening the guys will be fun!! i have so digressed but its all good.. im excited again and having a happy moment.
