This year Mashada turns 10. Like all prepubescent boys, there is an urgent need for a talk with this Mashada kid. Someone has to tell him about the birds, the bees and the bosoms.

Having caught a loose pint or three, the purveyor of all things Mashada asked if I was available to write a blog.  Given the insatiable need to air my opinions while cobra-spraying folks with spittle and misguided knowledge, the only logical answer was an emphatic yes! Now you are up to date. That  should answer the question WTH is she going on about, but I suspect it will not help you in any other way.

As for the conversations with this Mashada kid, don’t start talking to your computer just yet. That  that would be plain cuckoo and your workmates think you are weird enough.  Like me, you have an indistinguishable accent and a tongue twister of a last name. Talking to web pages, invisible folks and dust bunnies will earn you a straitjacket faster than dancing naked in rush hour traffic.

About these conversations, let’s think more in terms of  a fashion make-over. Apart from a cleaner  and more appealing site, Mashada will also undergo a major face lift to include a resident blog, Baraza. Baraza is a Swahili word meaning a meeting. As such, this forum will be a virtual meeting of minds with the intention of creating beneficial, vigorous debates about issues concerning Africa, its people and its governing policies.

On a personal level, I was not prepared for this. Most of my writing has been for my sanity, seeing as how Psychotherapists cost an arm, a leg and other body parts necessary for survival. The invitation to blog is also a welcome relief after the monotonous and nauseating question: Do you have a blog? Or the many variances of the same.

For my friends and family, it is the answer to prayers and pleas for me to stop talking to myself or hurling angry comments at the unmoved live talent debating a point on television. May your ears rest easy now and forevermore.

Under the pretenses of informing you, this blog will make you laugh. It will make you cry and I will do my damnedest to make you think. Again, not out loud because aaaiiiii!!! that will be too weird.  Without further delays, let’s get talking.
